Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready??? Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

    1. oh ok i understand now! I kinda thought maybe they pulsed electricity or something wasnt really sure how they worked! and im going to stick with the lights i have now b/c i just got them in the preorder this year. (c6 leds from cd) I did however purchase 800 c9 replacements in the preorder for my roof, windows, and doors. so if i skipped every other socket to get 24" spacing and wrapped three strands together staggered that would work i guess. But what should i do with the empty sockets? do you have to pop them off and liquid electrical tape the wire? or will they blow the fuse if
    2. ok i know its probably been asked here before but its hard to believe it doesnt exist. Is there a chase controller that will make one string of lights chase or multible strings connected end to end chase? like the old incand. strings that had the little box attached to them. I have a long fence 300' done in c6 leds and would love to have a chase controller for it. i dont have the resources to buy 3-5 stretches(900-1500') of c6 and use 3-5 lor channels!!
    3. No not going to any Mainly b/c of financial situation, actually had to put the whole christmas lights on the back burner for now. The economy has put me in a money crunch. I work at a factory here in jonesboro and they have cut back to three days a week. Luckily, I had already put back enough money to pay for my CDI order!!!! So, Ill probably work on a few small projects after that order comes in.
    4. anyone know any inside on when they are going 90%??? I went today and they were still 80% off, but i couldnt resist getting 20 boxes of c-9s and a few minis. Mon. I managed to snag the last countdown snowman at 80% off. I didnt want to miss out on getting the c-9s b/c im ordering the led retros from cdi and at a $1.40 a box thats like $.06 a ft. Cant really buy spool c9 wire for that!! i figure i can sell the bulbs at a garage sale!!! I figure if they go 90% off and they have any c-9s left here ill buy all they got. i mean thats less than $.03 per ft. And i can make up some of the mone
    5. is the spt3 wire 18g or 16g???
    6. ok guys i want to colorwash my house next year. My house has like 5 sections on the front to be lit up and its brick and tan, so i know this is going to be a hard task to get it lit up good and bright. Well as compared to a reg. white house. i tried an 85w reg. flood bulb from lowes and was sadly disapointed i wouldnt even waste my time with that!! I just recieved a 36 led par 20 flood from minions web and it rocks, but it seems like its going to take quite a few of them to light up my house. i looked at the pro colorwash units but thats way to much money, by the time you figure the shape
    7. Thanks cars yeah i definatly want max. brightness!! This is my first year putting lights up in like 10 years. and now that i have mine out alot of neighbors are putting up lights! the thing is we moved about 8 years ago and i got rid of all my christmas lights and most of my other outside stuff!! (didnt think i would ever hang any more christmas lights, but now i have a 15 month old and a reason to) so im starting from scratch. this year im just running a 10' mega tree, a holdman b. star, and some mini lights(7,000 all together). anyways thanks for the advice i talked to paul from cdi a
    8. hey cars which ones do you have?? or is there a best of the three you listed??
    9. hey guys i was looking at the c9 leds from cdi, but the other day at sams i noticed they had c-9 leds 50ct for like 10$ they said 4.8 watts. just wandering if these are anywhere comparable to the cdi?? i have read a lot of posts on here saying that the c6 leds are brighter than the c9s b/c they both only have one diode, but if this is true why are some of the 50ct c9s higher wattage than the same brand 50ct c6s?? just wondering b/c im thinkin of switching to leds this year on the roof and windows. i am currently using white reg. mini lights so i know either would surely be an improvemen
    10. thanks for the help guys!! ive got an electrician coming out tomorrow morning to lookat my breaker box and give me some options. he seems to think its problably 200 amp service instead of 100, but the main breaker is only labeled 100. so i figured i better let a professional look at it!!
    11. yeah but i dont know if its legal and also dont know what will be the cheapest way out i priced 2 guage 3 strandwire to run the subpanel. i can get like150ft for like $300 but then i still have to buy panel, breakers, recepticles. just thought someone might have a cheaper way out!!
    12. Heres my situation, my house only has 100amp service and is pretty wellmaxed out.My shop behind my house has 200amp service and plenty of room to play. The only problem is my shop is 150-200ft behind my houseanda lot of mydisplay will be 100ft in front of my house. So its like a 300ftrun from mydisplay to my shop. What would be my best and cheapest solution??Would 12g extension cord work for the 300ft run?The most amps i will pull will be 13-14 onone side of a lor controller and that would be if i blinked every thing on.running three lor controllers. i thought about running2-3 wire (2 guage)from
    13. just wondering if any of u have used leds from www.Christmas-LEDs.com and how they stack up with pauls from creative displays??
    14. So is buying from creative displays cheaper than the after christmas sales at retail stores?? just askin b/c i didnt start buying until everybody was pretty well sold out but i did get like 190 boxes of 100ct mini lights from hobby lobby at 90% off for like $.30 per pack!! but am looking for some c-9 leds i had saw a post on here where some people had gotten some from ace hardware after christmas but was wondering if creative displays was compareable in price or should i just wait till after christmas next year??
