Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

  • About my display
2008 was our first year going computerized. We had 112 LOR channels with 46k mini lights and 5k C9 bulbs. In 2009 we will have 144 channels with 60K mini lights and 2k C9 bulbs.
  1. I have to get rid of this, so the price is lowered to $150
  2. Hi everyone, I have for sale a 100 amp portable subpanel. Basically, it is a 125 amp box mounted on plywood with 9 outlet boxes on one side and 9 on the other. Each outlet has its own 20 amp breaker and all the outlets are GFI. The box has a 100 amp main line breaker and a main line to hook into your existing power box. I used this 2 years ago and it worked awesome. I am moving and have to get rid of it. I am asking $200 for it. I spent well over $350 for all the supplies to make it. I live in Monterey, Ca and would be willing to meet you or ship it to you. If you have any questions or want to see some more pictures, let me know.
  3. Doc, My wife and I had a great time today at the get together. The food was great and the company was even beter. Thanks again for a wonderful time.
  4. Thanks for the replies. I have some extra channels, so I think I will use multiple channels for a better effect. Thanks again.
  5. I have 200 brand new boxes of 100 ct green on green walmart mini lights and 150 brand new boxes of 100 ct white on green Lowes mini lights that I need to get rid of. If anyone is interested, I am only asking $1 a box. These are all brand new and in the box. I live in the Monterey Bay area and will be at the Morro Bay get together this weekend if anyone is interested.
  6. How many curtain strobes can you put on one channel. I just got 40 strobes from a PC member and there is no marking on them as to how much current they draw. They are from Christmas Light Show.com.
  7. Nick, I have 300 boxes of 100ct green on green brand new from Walmart. I bought them last year and have no use for them. I would get rid of them for $1 a box. I live in Ca, so shipping might not make it worth it, but let me know.
  8. Doc, I just saw the post for the California get together. I live up in Monterey and might be able to make it. I have to talk to the wife first and get permission. I will try to let you know in the next couple of days. How many people are attending so far?
  9. I have had numerous people knock on my door at 10:01 because the show just shut off and they did not get to see it. We dont even answer the door anymore when the show is on.
  10. That is too funny. I get asked the same questions about the radio station every night. I dont know why it is so hard to explain the FM transmitter to everyone.
  11. Our show is about 40 minutes and then we have a 5 minute intermission after each show. There is music playing during the intermission, but the lights are static and only fade to different colors a few times during the 5 minutes. We also had Demented Elf do a voiceover at the end of the show saying that the next show will start in 5 minutes. The intermission just follows the show and everything runs on a loop. The intermission really helps to get traffic moving. Hope this helps out.
  12. haha, thats too funny. A couple of year ago, when Target went 75% off, I found a whole case of white LED's that someone had hidden behind the multi color minis.
