  • About my display
Has always been a static display. This will be my first year to automate.
  1. Hi All, My all time favorite has to the the classic theme from Linus & Lucy by George Winston. Nothing says Christmas more to me than this classic. After growing up with Charlie Brown, how could this not be one of the all time best Christmas melodies ever? I'm currently sequencing it now for my 2009 display. I hope I can do it justice and it will bring back some Charlie Brown Christmas memories for everyone. ~Doug
  2. Woo Hoo :santasmileyitty:, Got mine today. Thanks for the Super Fast shipping Travis! Receieved the lights 2 days after they shipped. Now it's time to get to work! ~Doug
  3. Hi Mira, Just wanted to let you know that the lattice channnel was a big success. I made frames for all my doors & windows. I literally bought the entire stock of framing from three of my local home depot's! My, led's fit into the channel perfrctly and are all nice and straight. Since I used three colors, I hot glued 3 strips together and cut to length to make the frames. I made wooden "biscuits" and hot glued them to join the peices together. The end result was better than I expected. Will try & post some photos. ~Doug
  4. Hi there Angel, Greetings from another Katy resident! You could probably affix simple L brackets to the strips and slide those under the shingles. Ok, have to ask, I've been a Katy resident for many years and don't recall a "Candy Cane Lane"? Is that in old Town Katy or over by the mall? ~Doug
  5. Hi Mira, Thanks for the quick response. That was another option. I guess I'll just take a stab and go with what works best. You have no idea how long I've been looking for a way to keep all my lights nice and neat around my windows. There are some other products out there but they don't work with LED's, only the Mini's. I can't tell you how many times I've been through Home Depot and this was right under my nose the whole time. Thanks again for sharing! ~Doug
  6. Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for sharing. I had considered wood frames & PVC frames but all were far to time consuming. I bought some of these tonight at the local Home depot and my LED's fit perfectly. One question though, If making a window frame, how are you fastening the peices together? I had considered screwing the frames together or possibly a hot glue gun. Any advice you can offer will save me the whole trial & error thing. Thanks ~Doug
  7. Hello all, Although my order was probably small in comparison to others, my lights arrived on time and as promised. I was very happy with LED Holiday Lighting and will certainly order from Travis again. Just wish the summer sale was still on:)
  8. Hello all, I had actually planned on fabricating window frames from PVC as well. However, I like all my lights to be perfectly aligned. I did some searching on the internet and found this product http://window-wonder.com/. I'm ordering a single kit to test out. If it works out as well as I think, I'll order enough to do the whole house. ~Doug
  9. Wow, I think I opened a can of worms here. You have brought up some very good points. First, I'm in a master planned community where all the streets are all off the main thorough fair. Basically, there are small "pods" of homes off of the main streat. So, the only traffic by my home consists of people that live in my section. I'm not expecting a huge turnout this year but am very concerned as this is a tight nit community and word of mouth is a big deal here. My neighborhood has no covenants or restrictions regarding christmas displays, just the standard nuisance clause. My neighbors are f
  10. Hello all, This is my first year to automate. After reading all the posts regarding crowd control & neighbor relations, I'm very concerned that my display may offend or inconvenience my neighbors. As far as I know, I'm the first to automate in my neighborhood and as we all know word travels fast. So, I'm wondering what others have done in regards to crowd control. I've read several posts relating to limiting the number of songs, keeping them short or spreading them out. One of my friends suggested that if people start hanging around waiting on shows to just turn the sprinklers
