Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready??? Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

This year we are using the Gemmy 12 Channel Controller.. If things go well with this were going to move up to the LOR 16 or 32 Channel..
    1. hey guys been a while since I have posted. I have about 6 songs for this year. Small I know, I had to scale back from anticipated due to the economy. However I do have about 32 channels up and going. Feel free to come and check them out. 298 Mountain View Estates Caryville, TN 37714
    2. You know I did not think about that. Therefore I have actually went ahead and uninstalled The LOR software.. But the laptop is still for sale for the first taker.
    3. I am selling one of my computers. Would make a perfect PC for controlling you light show. It is a Dell Inspiron 8200. It already Has LOR s2 on it. It does have to be hooked up to the cord. It gives a 70 watt error which means it will not charge the battery. It also has a thin blue line on the monitor. I am asking $150 shipped or $125 local pickup.. It does work great running XP home. IT has a 40gb HD and a 512 Ram
    4. i use the dymo letratag label maker from walmart. works great used labels for a month plus on my easter display rained alot too
    5. We also have a Christian Easter Display. I have some pics in another thread. It is sad that only 5% of people go to church anymore. But that is a sad reality. The Truth is in the word. We need to spread that word. I sure hate all the young people that don't even know who or what the Lord is. This is coming from a young man, I am only 24 years old, but I don't know what I would do without my loving Savior.
    6. Thank you guys all so much for your interest. The good news, my wife and I are going to be able to pick up some overtime at work this week and we are going to be ok without having to sale the controller.. Again thank you all so much.. MODS: Thread maybe deleted at will..
    7. Thanks guys for the PM's Im not 100% sure I will have to sell it. To answer a few questions If I do sell it, the software will NOT be included. If I do sell it I will be taking the best offer for it. Thanks again for the interest
    8. I have a brand new 16 Channel PC LOR unit, I bought it as the kit for $205 that you assemble. I have put it together and tested it, it has never been used for a show. We are a little short on cash right now and I may have to resort to selling it until better times later in the year. Would anyone be interested in it? If so please PM me. Thanks again everyone and God Bless
    9. Well. I waited for St.Patties day to pass, I had to work a little extra. But now that wait is over.. Here are some night time pictures. My Photography was a little sketchy tonight.. LOL. I have been running wires all day.
    10. Yeah sorry bout the night pics, I had some issues with a string on my big cross, Sunday we drove about an hour from here to listen to the Joy Heirs, Gospel Singers. We work Mon, Tues, Wed Nights. So I will take some pictures and put them on here tomorrow night.. Thank you all for the night comments...
    11. Update, I am going to run some simple animations with music. Which will include Randy Travis - Three wooden Crosses Statler Brothers - Old Rugged Cross Randy Travis - Just a little talk with Jesus The Kingsmen Quartet - I'd rather be an old time Christian The Primitive Quartet - Hallelujah, He has risen They all will have the same sequence and repeating for now..
    12. Thanks, my mother in law actually made those cut outs many years ago, she let us have them when she made new last year. I will have pictures of the crosses and the spot lights tonight when it get dark..
    13. This is the Easter Display we put together yesterday. Im not going to run any music. Just going to do a simple animation.
    14. Nah were good, we already have our Easter stuff out. We are celebrating the resurrection of our saviour, I would rather celebrate for the Lord for a month as to St. Patrick, for 2 weeks and the Lord 2 weeks. SPD is just not our cup o tea. It maybe for someone else. But our neighbors no our faith, and they all know its for Easter not SPD...
