It's probably way too late to do one this year, but I might be able to attend or help out next year. I'm in Reno.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! -
That is a nice story. Having my little display is sort of doing the same thing for me. It's nice when people come over to see the one song I have done so far, and it's really giving me the Christmas spirit this year. It feels good too, just to have all the lights up. I love every bit of it.

You guys have some nice looking displays! I hope I can get out to see some of them before the season is over. This snow....

All my lights are indoors, so my lights are just fine. *ducks behind the sofa* I'm with you on the sentiment of not wanting to put up with this for several months every year. I really don't want to have to own two sets of tires. I'm thinking California sounds nice right about now, but don't kill me for saying that, I'm an Oregon native.

Thank you Bull and Darin! Yeah, I guess so...I never thought about the snow being on all the lights. Seems the whole northern USA is snowed in right now.

Well here is my modest indoor light display. The pic that shows the lights on is showing the lights I turn on when there is no show running. I khope you like it.

Whoa, I didn't see all these welcomes.. thank you everyone! It's so nice to be here, you all seem so friendly. I am using a combo of regular minis and LED minis. I have the regulars in "general" areas and the LED's in "specific" areas if that makes any sense! So when I turn off the regulars and turn on the LEDs it really makes an impact. I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. I almost bought a camcorder the other day but I was too tired to make that last stop.. lol So maybe when we are out of the deep freeze I'll get some video of my display too. Oh, and I'm using a LOR 16 channels. Can you believe the snow?? It sure is pretty though. Nice for a change. A question... how long do you guys keep your displays up? It's so snowy that I can't even get out of my driveway right now, but a friend of mine wants to go see some tractors that are decorated in Forest Grove, so maybe we could me a trip of it and just make the rounds.

Difficult to find Grinch?
putergirl replied to happyreindeer's topic in Inflatables/Airblowns/Balloons
Oh, that's so cute!...no wonder they sold out. -
The Beaverton Target didn't have much left for lights. Friday and Saturday the Rite Aid right down the street had %75 off but very few LEDs left.. mostly all white and I don't do white. And I'm pretty much snowed in right now too. BMcGeeny, you're a monster! I could never get to that many stores.. make me tired just thinking about it. Gonna have to look up that Fleet Farm.. never heard of that before. So many new exciting things to learn in this Lighting world.

Chocolate Christmas Truffles 1/2 cup whipping cream 1/4 cup Irish cream liqueur 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur 1 1/2 teaspoons instant-coffee crystals 1 12-ounce package semisweet chocolate pieces 1/4 cup butter Sifted cocoa powder 1. In a bowl, combine whipping cream, Irish cream liqueur and coffee liqueur. Stir in the instant-coffee crystals; set aside. 2. In a heavy saucepan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Remove from heat; gradually stir in cream mixture until blended. 3. Transfer to a bowl; cover tightly and chill in refrigerator about 2 hours or until completely cool and smooth, stirring occasionally. Mixture will be slightly sticky. 4. Shape tablespoons of candy into balls. Roll each in cocoa powder. Place on a waxed-paper-lined baking sheet. Chill until firm. 5. Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you like, roll in additional cocoa powder before serving. I've been making these for that last three years and they get rave reviews. You'll have to wash your hands every now and then, they make a mess, but well worth it. Also, go to a cake decorating store and get some good cocoa. And if you want to skip the Kraft products (Kraft is an environmental mess), Trader Joes has excellent chocolate chips.

Hmmmm... that might be what I saw. I guess I'm just going to have to go and take another look at the lights that I saw last year. Thanks for taking the time to reply though.

Hi Randy, I would but we're kinda snowed in right now... the entire city is practically snowed under. I'll get a pic when I go to my sisters house on christmas. It won't warm up till then anyway, and I saw some in her neighborhood last year. I think I'll go knock on some doors too!

So they are just ordinary blue leds? And they are dark like that? I wonder if they make minis in that color because I would love some. So far I only see the regular blue minis. And also wondering where to buy them... I've never seen them in stores, and I can't find them online.

Hello, I'm sort of new to the board so I'm sorry in advance if this question is repetitive for you guys. I am looking for the real dark blue lights that I am seeing on people's houses the last few years. They look like C9's or C7's. I have not ever seen them in the stores and was wondering where people are getting them? I asked a similar question on Constantly Christmas, but at that time I was wondering if they were actually black lights? Do any of you know what I'm talking about? And where can I buy them? Thanks.

I love the LED's. They're so bright and pretty. It really makes the old lights look dingy. It was weird at first but I adjusted quickly and I feel much better about only spending 1/10th of the electricity, plus I am not buying and throwing away (wasting) the old kind all the time.

Upset Neighbor parked his truck in my driveway.
putergirl replied to cuonebay's topic in Neighbor Relations
2 more cents coming... I think reply 44 and 45 were right on... send the guy a gift certificate and make him feel special. While reading your complaint, he reminded me of my dad. I love my dad so much but he had a terrible childhood, abused badly... and he had respect issues. But inside he was a teddy bear. Almost sounds like some real nice treatment and he'll come to tolerate your display without so much anger. You never know where people are coming from. I really liked the idea of offering him a special place to park if he needs it some night. I also thought the idea of decorating his truck while it was parked there was hilarious! -
Great ideas... thanks for the reminders and the tips.

Hi everyone, just signed up here. Looks like lots of information to be had! I'm from Portland and have an indoor display, 16 channels. I love it, and wish I had gotten into it a lot sooner.
