I did not go to NC plant. I wish I had gone years before when one of my college friend moved near their. He went there and brought me a Christmas tree and set of Noel candle. The plant was open to locals only on Saturday mornings in fall cash and carry. The Norfolk plant was also in really bad shape. They had lots of issues leaking roof...Some of equipment was leaking hydraulic oil. It was clear to me that management did not want to make needed repairs. But on bright side they sold the water damaged blow mold boxes a few dollars cheaper.

I did hear how they had the big sales in Tarboro. One of the managers said they had to quit cause way back when someone drove up. Loaded up a trailer. Then took back to their business and was reselling. Even cheaper then then the box stores. Walmart threatened if they didn’t quit then they’d quit buying.

I was told a few years before they closed that General Foam was a family owned business and that they lived in the UK and really had no interest in the business anymore and were wanting to sell it.  I don't know if that was true or not as I did not follow up on it.  Possibly that had a lot to do with the condition of the place.

I was told it was a family Owned business as well. Once they became profitable again they wanted out. However did not know they lived across the pond. Interesting.

Maybe I don’t remember that area has flooding issues. I was thinking about it I called them around 2010. I know they had bad flood in 2009 hurricane Floyd landed near plant. She said roof and building had damaged due to hurricane. So I am not sure which flood damaged the molds. Also I did ask about 40” choir angle that BECO made and both were damaged.

Not sure if you ever visited the plant during closing. My wife and I went to the auction and toured the factory and let’s just say that place was a mess. Round the corner to Walk into another building and you’d see standing water puddles all over from where the roof leaked. It was crazy.

Great! My fiancée and I are planning on having them as part of the decorations for our wedding reception in December. We are very excited. - Dylan

Can’t wait. As long as all goes well over seas there should be no hiccups

They look real nice. What about redoing some of the old molds?

It’s possible. Knowing the companies are closed, they still may hold copyrights. I will say though I am looking into it and have reached out to the powers they may be :

    Richard,

Very cute snowman and I love the cardinals on the wreath.  I wish you the best of luck with your new blow mold.

Thank you. I appreciate it. The interest seems high so we shall see

  5. Hey all

If you’re not on Facebook or have not seen or heard, but I have a small business and am happy to announce an exclusive blow mold snowman never seen before and will NOT be seen in retailers.
If this does well then you can bet there will be tons of designs to come.

The snowman will be $65.49 and available only through pre order on our website in a couple weeks.
He stands 34x15x15. And will be made in China.

If you have questions ask away.
Like the business page to keep up to date as well Facebook.com/Richardsholidayshop

My main issue was trying to navigate the site. I like before how you could see all the company's at the top and once selected it would open up and show the different holidays they produced and then from there you could see what different items they produced for the selected holiday. I like the new format and look but I don't like scrolling down to see all of the images one by one and once I got to the end the images move onto the next holiday. I didn't know if instead of having one big page of images and parts of it having different holidays if it could be like it used to be were you would enter a holiday page and see the images in a grid like format and it was just that holiday only. and it wouldn't go to the next holiday if I scrolled down.  I don't know if this makes any sense but I hope it helps.

I’ll pass this on to the designer.

  7. What kind of issue are you having? I’m not the one who worked on it, but one who contributed.

The site was very out dated and the update will help it grow for future researchers

  8. Late posting, but wanted to update.
Cado made the can exclusively for AS and it is now part of their 2021 catalog.

Also with AS I had an issue with high shipping, I messaged them and their tech support looked into it and fixed it. Not sure what the issue is they are having

Candy corn is from Mr. Christmas for QVC. Cheaper to buy on the Q

It sounds like he's smarter than the average scrapper.  I've watched some videos of scrappers on youtube.  I saw one guy toss a perfectly good bicycle into his load of scrap metal.  At $5 per 100 pounds (for steel) he probably got 2 dollars or less for it.  Any good working bicycle would be worth at least 20 bucks!  I saw another guy take a perfectly good set of speakers and slam them on a concrete floor.  He destroyed a $50 speaker to get maybe five cents worth of copper.  Insane!  In any case I'm glad that this scrapper is offering the aluminum molds for sale and didn't just junk them all.

    TED

Sadly they scrapped a lot. Specially the bigger ones. 😕

  10. There was a published list of the molds, but it wasn’t very accurate as some had been sold after the lost was published. The list didn’t have prices though. And the molds were sold in lots.
There are some molds on eBay that the scrapper who bought them is selling.

I missed this part of the conversation before.  (Bracing myself for a painful answer.)  When you say Nativity do you mean the whole set (with wise men, animals, etc.) or just Mary, Joseph, Jesus?  Also, did anyone buy the Santa's Best set or the Large set?

    TED

I believe the whole set. As for the SB set I honestly don’t remember even seeing it, but don’t think anyone got it. Only SB mold I know of selling was Mrs. Claus

I wonder which candles they have.  It would be nice if we could get them to make up some replacement flames and let us buy them direct.  Who wouldn't like to have some extras?  (I could use some standard GenFoam/Empire NOEL flames and a few GV/Poloron flames.)  I'm kind of surprised that they aren't offering any other candles since candles are usually popular.

    TED

I’ll have to go back through the pics, but it was a pallet of candles. Had a Noel candle and what looked like the Mediterranean candles.
I have some replacements but buried. Got a bunch from the last time I was at GF.

I really like them. I been to 5 Walmart looking for blow mold lantern and this was the only one to have soldiers and candy canes. And they had 4 of each and we’re all in Christmas tree display area.

Sadly the lanterns from last year are not back. The snowman head is and they have a penguin head that is new for this year.
